Sotheby’s Opens a New Gallery in East Hampton
Iconic Sotheby's New York has expanded to Long Island. Located in the heart of the gallery district and envisioned by the New York-based lead designer Catherine Heil, the new gallery is opened to private appointments.
David Schrader, Global Head of Private Sales, comments, “[We] expect to see great contemporary works by Ed Ruscha, Andy Warhol and George Condo displayed alongside a significant selection of 20th century design by Jean Prouvé and Charlotte Perriand, world-class wristwatches by Rolex and Patek Philippe, covetable jewels by Hemmerle, David Webb and Van Cleef & Arpels, and so much more… The Hamptons have always been a popular setting for our clients, and we're excited to be able to show a selection of fine art and luxury goods in this new, curated lifestyle gallery."
The three-centuries international broker firm, created in London in 1744 by Samuel Baker, George Leigh, and John Sotheby, has become one of the four oldest auction houses in continuous operation worldwide, and one of the most numerous, with 80 locations in 40 countries. The new gallery is just 100 miles away from the company’s headquarters in Manhattan.
There will be a lively calendar of events at the gallery, from virtual wine tastings to trunk shows. Keep an eye out for events not to be missed in the coming months.
